Control the Conversation

The Tweet

Tomi Lahren posted the following on twitter

Either masks work or they don’t. If you’re requiring them because they stop the spread then reopen everything. If they don’t work then the mandates are BS. Pick a narrative and stick to it.

Reaction

The reaction from those who disagree with Mrs Lahren were predictable, and I love easy dunks on Fox News(TM) as much as anyone. Most focused on the Either/Or fallacy and some were funny.

Digging deeper

But the tweet is more unsettling if you examine it closer.

Pick a narrative and stick to it

That’s what she said. Not do the right thing or tell people the truth no; pick a narrative and stick to it. It’s not about truth; and for people who make a living from being Fair and Balanced(R), it never has been. It’s about winning, by any means necessary. It’s not about being right; it’s about deciding who gets to decide what is right. In a stunning display of saying the quiet part loud, perhaps unintentionally, we glimpse the abyss that is at the heart of everything Mrs Lahren and her fellow riders of the truth Apocalypse do and say.

Power is in tearing human minds to pieces and putting them together again in new shapes of your own choosing.
